For Americans & Canadians looking beyond the obvious
Personal, plain-English guidance for people exploring residency and citizenship opportunities in Portugal, Italy, Greece and Panama.
No pressure. No jargon. And absolutely no “once-in-a-lifetime” sales pitch.
Why another option?
Most people aren’t exploring residency or citizenship simply because they fancy another passport. They want more choices—for where their family can live, work, study, invest and feel secure.
The problem is that this industry often makes a very human ambition feel far more complicated than it needs to be—with confusing terminology, bold promises and an unnecessary number of glossy brochures.
My job is to explain the options clearly, focus on what genuinely matters to you and your family, and work alongside a team of industry specialists in each country to make it happen.
How it actually works
You do not need to arrive knowing whether you want residency, citizenship, a Golden Visa or simply fewer winters.
Family, timing, budget, lifestyle and what prompted the search in the first place.
I help you understand which routes deserve attention and which probably do not.
I work alongside experienced legal, tax, immigration and investment specialists in each country, so every detail is handled properly.
I coordinate the process, keep everyone aligned and make sure you always know what happens next.
Meet David
I was born in London, hold British, Irish and New Zealand passports, and divide my year between Mexico, where I am a resident, and Europe.
For the past decade, I have helped American and Canadian clients make significant property decisions overseas. I’ve learned that most people don’t want another polished sales pitch. They want someone they like and trust, who will explain the options properly, answer the awkward questions and guide them through the process.
“I make complicated options easy to understand, help clients identify what genuinely suits them and work alongside a team of industry specialists in each country to make it happen.”
Why work with David?

Portugal, Italy, Greece and Panama—compared in straightforward language for American and Canadian families. No unexplained acronyms. No 97-page legal warm-up.
Now for the grown-up bit
Residency and citizenship decisions can involve immigration law, tax, investments, source-of-funds checks and family circumstances. I help you understand the options, make sense of how the different pieces fit together and coordinate the process with experienced legal, tax, immigration and investment specialists in each country.
I’ll help you understand what is worth exploring, what probably isn’t and make sure every part of the process is handled by the right people. The possibilities should be exciting. The paperwork should be reassuringly uneventful.
For Americans & Canadians
Your new residency should fit comfortably around your existing life, family and finances. That is where we begin.
It depends on the programme. Portugal, for example, allows qualifying investors to maintain residency while spending relatively little time in the country. Other programmes are designed for people who genuinely want to relocate.
In many cases, yes. Spouses, partners and dependent children can often be included, while the rules for adult children and parents vary. Tell me who is coming and I will help you understand how the programme applies to your family.
Yes. You can continue running your business or working at home while holding residency elsewhere. If you decide to work while living overseas, we will make sure the residency and tax arrangements suit your plans.
I will help you look at the complete figure: the investment, government charges, professional fees and any costs for accompanying family members. One clear estimate, with everything in its proper box.
Americans generally continue reporting their worldwide income to the IRS wherever they live. Some overseas investments also come with additional US reporting requirements. I work with the appropriate specialists to make sure the investment works for the residency application—and makes sense from a US tax perspective.
For Canadians, tax residency depends on where you live and the ties you retain to Canada. If you are planning a permanent move, we will involve a Canadian cross-border tax specialist early so everything is structured properly from the beginning.
It normally allows convenient travel throughout the 29 European countries that make up the Schengen Area—essentially a group of countries with open internal borders. Your right to live and work, however, is generally linked to the country that issued your residence permit. Travel, residency and employment are separate rights. Europe likes to keep things interesting.
Potentially, yes. The requirements depend on the country and may include maintaining residency for a set period, spending time there, learning the language and meeting other conditions. I will explain the realistic route from the outset—passport included only when genuinely applicable.
Start with a conversation
Tell me what you want for yourself and your family. We will work out which options deserve a closer look—and which ones do not.
Our first conversation is simply a relaxed chat about what you want, what matters to your family and whether any of these options genuinely make sense. You don’t need to know where to begin—that’s what we’ll work out together.
